## â° **0:00 â 2:00 | Introduction**
âWelcome everyone, and thank you for joining us for todayâs **StrikinBackAtStrokes Health & Recovery Workshop**, brought to you by **SLAP Magazine**.
Our mission is simple: **to help people fight back against strokes through diet, exercise, recovery tools, and access to life-saving treatments**.

Today, weâre going to cover 4 things:
1. **Weight loss and nutrition** with the SLAP Mag Weightloss Coach diet plan.
2. **Stroke recovery tools** like the Power Assist Glove and Elliptical trainer.
3. **Innovative stroke treatment breakthroughs**, including the work of Dr. Tobernick using Etanercept.
4. **Practical resources** like Section 8, disability, and IHSS caregiver programs that survivors and families can use to build a recovery lifestyle.â
---
## â° **2:00 â 10:00 | Part 1 â SLAP MAG Weightloss Coach Diet**
âLetâs start with the foundation: **diet and nutrition**.
Many strokes are preventable. Obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes are among the biggest risk factors. Thatâs why SLAP Magazine has created the **Weightloss Coach Diet**, a simple and affordable plan that focuses on:
* đ„Š **Whole foods** â fresh fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and good fats.
* đ„€ **Hydration** â drinking enough water and limiting sugary drinks.
* đœïž **Portion control** â using small plates and meal prep techniques.
* đ **Consistency** â building a weekly shopping and cooking routine.
Weâve included **meal planning guides and shopping lists** inside the SLAP Magazine Stroke Recovery Guide, which weâll make available for \$10 as part of our fundraiser.
đ A healthy diet isnât about perfection â itâs about giving your brain and body the fuel it needs to recover.â
---
## â° **10:00 â 20:00 | Part 2 â Stroke Recovery Equipment Demo**
âNext, letâs move into **stroke recovery tools**.
đč **The Power Assist Glove**
* This is a glove designed to help restore **grip strength and hand mobility**.
* Stroke survivors often struggle with opening and closing the hand â this tool assists the movement so the brain can relearn motion.
* (Demonstration: show how the glove opens/closes with assistance, and let a volunteer try if possible.)
đč **The Elliptical Machine**
* A fantastic low-impact cardio tool.
* The elliptical allows both the **arms and legs to work together**, promoting circulation and neuroplasticity.
* Great for those rebuilding balance, coordination, and stamina.
* (Demonstration: show 2â3 minutes of slow elliptical use, explaining how to start with short sessions and gradually build up.)
Remember â these tools are not just exercise equipment. They are **rehabilitation devices** that help reconnect the brain to the body. Consistency with these exercises helps stroke survivors regain independence.â
---
## â° **20:00 â 25:00 | Part 3 â Breakthrough Stroke Treatment**
âNow I want to share something very important: **the work of Dr. Tobernick** and his use of **Etanercept**, a treatment that has been shown to dramatically improve stroke recovery in some patients.
Etanercept is a medication that reduces inflammation in the brain, and in many cases has helped patients regain speech, mobility, and even memory after years of post-stroke limitations.
đ But hereâs the challenge: this treatment can cost thousands of dollars. Many families simply cannot afford it.
Thatâs where **StrikinBackAtStrokes** comes in.
We are raising money through:
* \$10 SLAP Magazines,
* Fundraiser T-shirts,
* Basketball & Bowling charity events,
* Music + Model showcases,
âŠto help **stroke survivors afford this treatment and get their life back**.â
---
## â° **25:00 â 28:00 | Part 4 â Essential Resources for Survivors**
âBefore we close, we want every survivor and family member to know there are resources out there to support your recovery journey:
1. **Section 8 Housing Assistance** â ensures survivors have a safe, stable place to live during recovery.
2. **Disability Benefits** â provides financial support when working is not possible.
3. **IHSS Caregiver Program** â allows survivors to have an in-home caregiver, sometimes even a family member, paid to help with daily needs.
These resources can take away financial stress, allowing you to focus on what matters most: **healing, diet, and exercise therapy**. Our SLAP Mag Stroke Recovery Guide explains how to apply for each of these programs.â
---
## â° **28:00 â 30:00 | Closing & Call to Action**
âAs we close this workshop, remember this:
**Strokes donât have to end your life â or the life of someone you love.** With the right diet, the right tools, breakthrough treatments, and community support, recovery is possible.
